Remembering
Salty tears roll down my cheeks
But I don’t wipe them away.
Remembering.
Many nights I’ve lain awake
Remembering.
I let music sweep me away
To another place
Remembering.
I still see your smile
And long for your arms around me
Remembering.
I watch a mother and daughter pair
Shopping together
Remembering.
It used to be you and I
Inseparable.
Remembering.
Your voice used to sing
In melody with mine
Remembering.
Your hand, so gentle
Yet filled with strength
Remembering
Crying in your arms
Fear gripping my heart
Remembering
Your smile so brilliant
Remembering.
The concern on your face
When I would fall down as a child
Remembering.
The sweet smell of your embrace.
Remembering.
Clothed in wisdom and guidance
You spoke.
Remembering.
But then, lying there helpless
Thin and hairless
Remembering.
Courage shown through
In your beautiful eyes
Remembering.
Crying out to God
In the middle of a field
Remembering.
I wanted so desperately for him to save you
Remembering.
Family game nights and movie nights
You always made everything so fun.
Remembering.
Our hearts almost felt as one.
Remembering.
Saying goodbye to you
That sunny November day
Remembering.
I held my crying sister
As they drove your earthly body away.
Remembering.
The deepest sorrow
Gripped my heart
Remembering.
But peace and hope
And a little glimmer of light
Remembering.
You are still gone
So I’m caught here
Remembering.
Beautiful Em, I miss her every day too! Thank you for your words, they are lovely, and the best think you mom did was create three wonderful, Christ filled kids that will effect generations...Love ya! Mrs. P.
ReplyDeleteEmily...Beautiful Poem...sad, sweet...but yes so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI know you must miss your momma so much. You have been through so much at a young age. But you have been a trooper, and you have found your comfort in the Lord. You have helped your siblings and your father to cope...and I am sure they have been there for you too.
You had the blessing of living in England and having new experiences...and now you are enjoying school and having more fun learning experiences.
Before you know it you will go to Brazil and grow from that time there too.
God is blessing you. I think you are an amazing young woman. I admire you and your talents and the way you use them for GOD.
Love, Grandma Linda
